During 1997, a group of enthusiasts met several times with a view of establishing a rabbit society that concentrated primarily on promoting rabbits for both showing and as pets.
REBS is an independent body, incorporated in New South Wales.
Objectives of REBS
Educate and promote rabbits in the public arena. Hold regular shows and educational seminars. Encourage, maintain and improve the qualities of recognised breeds of rabbits. Supply information to all members regarding the hygienic keeping, breeding, and management of rabbits in captivity. Publish regular newsletters. Supply identification rings for rabbits and keep complete records of sales and transfers of rings/rabbits. Adopt and issue standards for approved breeds of rabbits. Enforce the rules and regulations of the society, and deal with the
infringement of these rules accordingly. Grant and/or register prefixes for new members. Offer championships and other awards to new members.
